Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of people are struggling with fear, confusion, and some are fighting a feeling of helplessness. Perhaps you, family, or friends already struggled with depression or anxiety before this crisis began. And, if people have to be quarantined away from others, that can often heighten existing issues, or even a person with no known history of mental health issues can struggle.

To that end, below you will find Mental Health Resource information put together by the Polk County Health Department. If you live in Polk County, the list below is completely open to you. If you live outside of Polk County and want to reach out for help, you can do so through your county health department, or with the following groups:

  • Suicide Prevention Hotline: 1-800-273- TALK (8255)
  • NAMI Iowa
  • LGBTQ Suicide Hotline (the Trevor Lifeline): 1-866-488-7386
  • Teen suicide hotline: 1-800-USA-KIDS
  • Veterans Crisis Online Chat
  • Hearing Impaired Suicide Prevention TTY: 1-800-799-4889
